This information was compiled by request of the Ballard District Council. The information summarizes major private development projects in the Ballard district, which are currently under construction or in the permit review process. This report reflects projects involving housing development of over 25 units, and/or commercial space development over 20,000 SF. Twenty-five projects were considered. Of these, 21 involve residential development adding a total of 2,684 housing units to Ballard’s housing inventory. This number includes 769 condominiums, 1,074 market rate apartments, 146 “independent” living apartments, 199 hotel guestrooms, 108 subsidized/affordable apartments, and 388 whose intended use has not yet been declared. The 25 projects proposed to construct 761,707 SF of retail/commercial office/medical facilities space and on site parking for a total of 4,664

This information does not include major mixed use developments which have come on line in recent years. Two notable examples since 2003 are: The Ballard Condominiums and Ballard Place Condominiums. Together these two adjacent developments have added approximately 370 condominium homes and some ground floor commercial space.
