Mark Your Calendar for Upcoming BDC Meetings

We have a great slate of meetings coming up this winter and spring. Please join us …

February 13 – Community Police Commission

The CPC was formed in 2013 as part of the settlement agreement for police reforms mandated by the federal government. Under 2017 city legislation, the CPC was made permanent and its scope and staffing broadened. Roxana Garcia, Community Engagement Supervisor, and Jesse Franz, Communication Advisor, will present a “CPC 101” overview, describing the history of the organization and newly expanded scope, as well as a community Q&A. (What does this mean for Ballard and other North Precinct neighborhoods? How can we engage with community-based policing accountability? What would success look like if public safety was improved in Ballard?) Come to our February meeting to get informed and provide feedback to Seattle’s Community Police Commission.

March 13 – Crown Hill Focus

The Crown Hill Urban Village is one of the most rapidly expanding areas in the City. This meeting will focus on the very hot topic of MHA and how it is changing places like North Ballard/Crown Hill. Leaders of Crown Hill Urban Village (CHUV) Smart Growth Committee will discuss how the amended version of the CHUV in the current MHA is shaping up and hear about how the long standing Crown Hill Business Assoc. and Crown Hill Neighborhood Assoc. have merged to form a new and synergized Crown Hill Village Association.

We’re also working on good agendas for April 10 and May 8 (to be announced). And please mark your calendars for:

Join us on Wednesday, June 12, to listen to candidates running to represent Ballard and other neighborhoods in Seattle City Council District 6. Don’t rely on hearsay or cursory endorsements. Take time to interact with community members and hear in person from candidates on a wide range of topics for this important local election. Primary mail-in ballots are due August 6.
