Bringing Ballard Up to Date on Sound Transit, BIRT, and the Future of Ballard Bridge

This meeting will take place via Zoom and be broadcast and archived on the Ballard District Council YouTube channel.

It’s hard to stay on top of the ongoing swirl of news around major transportation infrastructure our neighborhood has long awaited: funding, timelines, route options, changes in plans for as-yet-intangible projects. We’re developing a May meeting with speakers on key transportation topics:

  • What is BIRT? (Ballard Interbay Regional Transportation System)
  • What is up with Sound Transit’s funding and timeline for light rail plans to Ballard?
  • Will Ballard Bridge get totally rebuilt or just rehabilitated?
  • What can Ballardites do to support effective implementation of major transportation infrastructure in our neighborhood?

We’ll have speakers from Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), Sound Transit, Ballard Alliance, Northwest Seattle Coalition and The Urbanist.

As always, please contact us with suggestions for panel discussion questions! We rely on community input. Show up that evening and “raise your hand” on Zoom to ask a question directly to the panel, during the Community Q&A.

Please share this event with other community members and organizations in the greater Ballard area.
